From pop to country, rock to reggae, the Rayella Band craftily blend a number of genres to tell their story in both Mudburra and English, ensuring an engaging listen from the first track to the last.

Their important debut album was recorded on location in Marlinja Community, 700km south of Darwin and mixed
in the Winanjjikari Music Centre Studios in Tennant Creek. Rayella performed in 2014 throughout the Northern Territory and toured Tasmania and Victoria. Rayella is an entertaining and immersive journey into the heartbeat of Australia’s centre, tales of life from the Indigenous Mudburra people’s homeland and history.

Eleanor’s magical voice paired with her father’s skillful guitar playing
and harmonising captivate audiences with their honest, evocative songs about family, country and culture. Tyrone Dixon is a phenomenal talent on Lead Guitar, and cousins Ethan Godfrey and Adrian Dixon form a solid rhythm section to complete this inspiring tight-knit unit.

In 2014 Rayella performed at MONA in Tasmania, Folk Rhythm and Life Festival in Victoria as well as performing alongside their peers The Sandridge Band and Tjintu Desert Band at BAMFest  aspart of the 25th anniversary of the Desert Harmony Festival. They also opened for the NT legends Blekbala Mujik in Tennant Creek on their historic Greatest Hits tour and delivered an incredible set to thousands at Bush Bands Bash in Alice Springs in September. Eleanor become the first woman to be a part of Bush Bands Business, the three-day professional development program which precedes the concert and she is the first woman to perform in one of the bands on the bill.

Rayella is a family band from Marlinja Community, located approximately 730 kilometres south of Darwin in the Northern Territory. Raymond Dixon and his daughter Eleanor are the driving force behind the beautiful melodies and stories that emerge from the engaging music this group bring to any performance, be it a campfire sing along or a festival in front of thousands.

The band comes from a long line of musical history. Raymond is the songwriter and was a guitarist with the Kulimindini Band who released three successful albums in the ‘80s and ‘90s. Lead singer Eleanor was raised during this era and as a result of a rich musicial upbringing has been singing for most of her life.

Eleanor has assumed an important role as a strong Indigenous female leader sharing her messages and stories to empower other females of all ages to feel confident and proud to step-up and chase whatever their dreams and goals in life may be.
